TOPAG developed new refractive "freeform" lenses for Gauss-to-Top Hat transformation
These types of beam shapers have a free-form surface which redistributes a Gaussian beam profile (TEM00) into a square Top-Hat profile. The combination with cylindrical optics allows to generate also homogeneous line profiles.
Topag offers three different models which deliver Top-Hats of different sizes and working distances. The achievebale Top-Hat sizes are for the GTH-3.6-1.75 and GTH-4-2.2 in the range of 30 µm up to 1 mm and for the GTH-5-250/4 in the range of 500 µm to few centimeters. Both models operate within a large wavelength range from VIS to NIR. For GTH beam shapers the focal length of the focusing optic determines the Top-Hat size in the focal plane.
part - no.: GTH-5-250/4:
The GTH-5-250/4 delivers a 4 x 4 mm Top-Hat in 250 mm distance and requires a 5 mm @ 1/e² input beam. The scaling of Top-Hat sizes from 500 μm up to tens of millimeters is possible using additional lenses with positive or negative focal lengths.
part - no.: GTH-4-2.2:
The beam shaper lens GTH-4-2.2 can be introduced nearly at any position into beam path. Even in front of or within a beam expander. It's just to consider that the beam diameter at the position of the shaper is 4mm@1/e². By focusing the shaped beam user can realize homogeneous Top Hat profiles with a size of 4.4µm/NA. NA represents the numerical aperture of focused beam. Therefore is possible to generate Top Hat sizes in a range of 40µm to 1000µm with a single GTH-4-2.2 beam shaper lens.

The beam shaper lens GTH-3.6-1.75 can be introduced nearly at any position into beam path. Even in front of or within a beam expander. It's just to consider that the beam diameter at the position of the shaper is 3.6mm@1/e². By focusing the shaped beam user can realize homogeneous Top Hat profiles with a size of 3.2µm/NA. NA represents the numerical aperture of focused beam. Therefore is possible to generate Top Hat sizes in a range of 30µm to 1000µm with a single GTH-3.6-1.75 beam shaper lens.
