Pockels cells can be used as fast fast optical switches. They are used to change the polarization state of light passing through it when an voltage is applied to the electrodes of an electro-optic crystal such as BBO or KDP. Typical applications include Q-switching of the laser cavity, laser cavity dumping and coupling light into and from regenerative amplifier. Pockels cells driver has been designed for use in mode-locked lasers for cavity dumping or for cavity Q-switching of solid-state nanosecond lasers.

A Faraday Isolator (FI) is a nonreciprocal optical device which transmits the linearly polarized light in one direction and deflects the backward beam. It usually consists of a Faraday Rotator and two polarizers. The Faraday Rotator is made of magneto-optical active material which is placed into the permanent magnet system (Nd-Fe-B). Three types of the magneto-optical active materials are available: Terbium doped glass, Terbium-Gallium-Garnet (TGG) crystals or Yttrium-Iron-Garnet (YIG) crystals. The FI protects laser by attenuating the reflected and backscattered light by several orders of magnitude (104 to 106). It is also used when some devices have extreme sensitivity to optical feedback which can cause intensity instabilities, frequency pulling and other undesirable effects.

The pulse picker consists of the pockels cell, high voltage driver, synchronization and delay generator. It is suitable for single pulse selection from train of femtosecond or picosecond pulses. Also the device is used for pulse slicing in order to increase contrast. USB connection with LabView-compatible driver provides smooth control over device performance. Models OG8-2, OG12-2 incorporate one Pockels cell and produce two high voltage pulses. Customer requested high voltage generators up to 50kV are also available.
